Software Development Engineer in Test
WHAT YOU WILL DO
As a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), you will help to create and administer automated and manual testing strategies for Skyward Apps’ products. Skyward needs a reliable person willing to investigate and implement testing technologies company wide – from setting up a test runner to creating the test plans that will be automated.
SDETs at Skyward will be both quality engineers and solution engineers – they are responsible for both safeguarding the completeness and functionality of our applications, but also in helping to shape the processes the company uses to verify its quality. The primary resource you will need to bring to bear is a creative mindset and an eye for the bigger picture.
As a Software Development Engineer in Test, we’ll expect you to be self-reliant enough to manage and direct the technical aspects of testing an application on your own. You’ll have the opportunity to work with our Architect and Developers to build out strategies and even drive development to some extent by helping guide our Test Driven Development processes. You will also need to wield the supporting business skills necessary for a successful software career, such as producing time estimates and client management.
As we’re a small company, there’s opportunity for you to get as involved as you want in any aspect of our business, and as an SDET with Skyward, you will have a direct impact on the company.
WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE
Did we mention you need to be willing to learn? Preferably, you’ll bring to the table familiarity with some of these (or something similar):
- ASP.NET Core, C#
- SQL of any flavor, but Postgres or MSSql preferred
- Web technologies like React, Typescript
- Cloud deployment systems (anywhere from Docker to AWS)
- Selenium, junit, nunit, Jenkins
Our clients often come to us for help designing a solution to their problems, not simply implementing a pre-existing plan, so you’ll need to be willing to both do subject matter research and get creative with solutions, as well as work with others of varying expertise.
