Kat Crawford
Chief Executive Officer
Kat Crawford is Chief Executive Officer and a principal of Skyward Apps. A certified Scrum Master and superb operations leader, she sets the strategic direction, goals, and manages relationships with clients and partners. Passionate about client relations, she believes the easiest way to keep your clients happy is to listen closely to their needs and produce quality software that solves their problems. Kat spends her free time biking with her family and reading.
Nick Elliott
Chief Technology Officer
Nicholas Elliott is Chief Technology Officer and a co-founder of Skyward Apps. Nick’s career has led him from ZedX, a cutting edge AgTech innovator, to software development for Microsoft before turning entrepreneur to found Skyward. A believer that good software is bred from good relationships, Nick attaches great importance to collaboration with his team, his clients and partners. Nick spends his time away from work developing personal software and enjoying time with his family.
Jay Shapiro
Project Architect
Jay Shapiro is responsible for the efficient administration of Skyward’s business operations, including development and management of HR policies, procurement and resource allocation, and budget management and financial analysis. As part of the senior management team, he sets strategic operational goals and evaluates the efficiency of business procedures. Jay brings extensive experience in commercial and defense domains. When he’s not here, it’s a good bet he’s off traveling.
Marjorie Valin
Director, Marketing and Business Development
Marjorie Valin is Director of Marketing and Business Development for Skyward Apps. She is responsible for strategic relationships, marketing, research and communications, or as she defines it, translating what we do into English. With a career that spans multiple industries, including cybersecurity, manufacturing, and healthcare, she brings a business perspective to technical challenges. Marjorie spends her free time doting on her kids and traveling every chance she can.
Geoff Martin
Senior Software Engineer
Geoff Martin is a Senior Software Engineer for Skyward Apps. Geoff began his career as a data storage and integrity engineer, becoming an expert in the care and delivery of client data. He now passes on those same principles and practices to younger developers. Geoff focuses on high-level research of new technologies and on improving the skillsets of other Skyward developers. In his off time, he enjoys photography, playing guitar, and taking photographs of guitars.
Erin Matuschek
Senior Software Engineer
Erin Matuschek is a Senior Software Engineer for Skyward Apps. Erin began her career creating software for the Virginia School of Nursing, gaining an appreciation for the importance of robust and supportable software. From there, her career moved to the financial sector, where she sharpened her skills in protecting data integrity and Personally Identifiable Information (PII). At Skyward, she leads projects requiring complex and specific workflow structures. When not at work, she enjoys crafting and gaming.
What a Workplace Should Be
These are my boys. They are a big reason why I co-founded this company. I wanted a job where I could do good work and be a good dad. Where the job was more than a paycheck.
Don’t get me wrong. I expect a salary that reflects my value, but I have worked at places where I made a lot of money and paid dearly in quality of life. I have worked at places where I was a cog in a big machine, and at small shops where we developed apps that set a new standard. Guess which place I liked best.
Work life balance is not always easy when you are a software developer. Spending my life at work is not the way I want to live, so it’s not the way we work here. We are uncompromising that work and life have to be in proportion.
Get to know us
